IDB will sign a collaboration agreement with a market leading company (IDB’s Partner Institution), Lima, Peru, contributing to the sustainable development of the country through the responsible management of stateowned mining environmental liabilities, while also promoting private investment in mining. Based on this collaboration agreement, technical support will be provided to contribute to the implementation of its innovation project (Project), which aims to develop environmental monitoring software based on satellite imagery and machine learning, capable of identifying types and levels of pollution in watersheds, supporting the planning of corrective measures, and strengthening sustainable water resource management. For this technical support, PTI/CTI is looking for Data Scientist Consultant, with knowledge and experience in developing AI algorithms for satellite image analysis, environmental data processing, software development, and the implementation of early warning systems for water pollution detection.
[What you’ll do]
In close communication and coordination with the PTI/CTI Specialist (Supervisor) in the respective IDB Country Office, the KTC will:
• Provide technical and/or technological support for the preparation, implementation and/or monitoring of initiatives tailored to the specific business need of the IDB’s Partner Institution under its innovation agenda; and
• Perform supportive tasks on the coordination of relevant organizations and/or involved contractors under the guidance and in close coordination with the Supervisor and Project’s team leader.
Specifically, under the framework of the collaboration agreement with the IDB’s Partner Institution, and the guidance of Project’s team leader, the KTC is expected to provide technical support to contribute to:
• Develop and train machine learning models to identify and classify pollution patterns in water basins using satellite imagery.
• Optimize satellite image processing through advanced colorimetry and morphological analysis to detect water contamination anomalies.
• Support the design and development of an interactive digital platform with georeferenced maps and environmental data layers.
• Provide technical training and knowledge transfer on machine learning, satellite image analysis, and geospatial database management.
• Advise on emerging technologies and ensure quality assurance by validating and optimizing models, software, and databases for scalability and sustainability.
• Other related activities as requested and agreed with the Supervisor. |

- 만 37세 이하 대한민국 국민
- 유창한 영어 구사능력 필수(쓰기 및 말하기)
- 관련 분야 학사학위 및 3년 이상 유관경력 보유(석사학위로 경력 3년 대체 가능)
- IDB 그룹에 현재 근무 중인 4촌 이내 친족이 없는 자
[What you’ll need]
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Geospatial sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields. A master’s degree in any of these areas is desirable but not required.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience or equivalent of education and experience. Demonstrated experience of developing solutions based on digital technologies, information, and communication technologies, and artificial intelligence; previous experience in projects involving environmental data processing, satellite image analysis, or management of large data volumes is highly valued.
• Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Working knowledge of Spanish is desirable but not required.
• Technical Competencies: Knowledge and experience in developing AI and machine learning solutions, especially processing environmental and satellite data. Skilled in satellite image analysis, Big Data management, and proficiency in open-source programming languages like Python. Advanced proficiency in English is required, while Spanish is a plus. Optional technical competencies include:
o Deep Learning: CNN or U-Net, ResNet, EfficienNet
o Time Series Model: LSTM, Transformers
o Programming languages: Python, R Julia
o ML/AI libraries: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn
o Image processing: OpenCV or GDAL , Rasterio
o Geospatial: GeoPandas , Shapely , PostGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine
o Big Data: Apache Spark (desirable), Dask
o Experience in developing interactive digital platforms with geospatial visualization: Dash or Plotly, Mapbox, Leaflet
o Database management: PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MongoDB
o Version control: Git, GitHub, GitLab
o MLOps: MLflow, Kubeflow, similar tools for model monitoring and deployment
o API integration and cloud services: AWS, GCP, Azure |
